Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Receive a Warm, Cheesy Welcome to Kick Off Colombia Trip

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle kicked off a tour of Colombia Thursday morning, starting their day with a visit to the office of Vice President Francia Márquez in Bogotá.

Upon arrival, the couple was greeted with hugs and a taste of pandebono, the country’s traditional cheese-filled bread. Márquez and her partner, Rafael Yerney Pinillo, visited with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for a half-hour, where they discussed the purpose of the couple’s visit, their commitment to online safety and raising awareness about the potential harms of social media.

For the outing, Meghan wore a sleeveless navy top and matching slacks by Veronica Beard, along with black suede Manolo Blahnik heels, a white handbag by Loro Piana. Following the meeting with the vice president, Harry and Meghan headed to the Colegio Cultura Popular, a local school where they planned to meet with students and discuss the impact of the digital world on young people with the schools headmaster.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex then checked out a performance at the National Centre for the Arts in Bogotá. Both Harry and Meghan changed outfits, with the Duchess of Sussex donning the colorful Navajo Weaver dress by Colombian designer Johanna Ortiz, supporting a label she’s worn before.

Highlighting a key theme of their trip to Colombia, Prince Harry and Meghan hit the stage at Universidad EAN for a Summit on a Responsible Digital Future, hosted by the Archewell Foundation in partnership with the vice president’s office and Luminate. The couple stressed the urgency of prioritizing humanity and connection in today’s digital landscape.

“With the Archewell Foundation, me and my wife believe that information integrity is a fundamental right,” Prince Harry said in part.

Added Meghan, “We should model how we want our kids to be raised and for the world in which we raise them.”
