Meghan Markle and Prince Harry-Backed Documentary Cookie Queens Is Heading to Movie Theaters

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s latest creative collaboration is coming to movie theaters.

On Thursday, March 12, it was announced that Cookie Queens, the Girl Scout Cookie documentary executive-produced by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, was acquired by Roadside Attractions and is set to open in U.S. theaters this summer.

Meghan, 44, and Harry, 41, celebrated with the cast and crew when the doc had its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January. In a press release announcing the news, director Alysa Nahmias shared her excitement about landing a distribution deal for the film, which follows members of Girl Scouts USA through the organization’s iconic annual cookie sale season.

“Girl Scout Cookies are more than a beloved tradition – they’re a big business where talented and hard-working girls generate $800 million in annual sales. For me, this became a fascinating lens to explore a story about girlhood — the ambition, resilience, humor, and vulnerability that emerge as these girls navigate growing up in a world shaped by the tensions between community and capitalism,” Nahmias said. “After the incredible response at Sundance, I’m honored to partner with Roadside Attractions, whose commitment to theatrical storytelling makes them the perfect home to bring this film to audiences nationwide.”

The release also included a previous quote from Meghan about her involvement with the project. Continue reading Meghan Markle and Prince Harry-Backed Documentary Cookie Queens Is Heading to Movie Theaters

Meghan Markle Returns to Acting for First Time Since Royal Life in New Movie with Lily Collins and Brie Larson

Meghan Markle is back on set!

On Nov. 5, the Duchess of Sussex, 44, was spotted on the set of the upcoming Amazon MGM Studios film Close Personal Friends in Pasadena, California, where she will play herself. The movie stars Brie Larson, Lily Collins, Jack Quaid, and Henry Golding. The Sun was first to report the news.

“Meghan was on the set today,” an insider tells PEOPLE. “She has a small part. She seemed very relaxed and happy. She introduced herself to everyone and was very sweet and down-to-earth.”

PEOPLE has reached out to a spokesperson for the Duchess of Sussex for comment.

The role marks Meghan’s first return to acting since royal life. She left her role on Suits eight years ago, after announcing her engagement to Prince Harry.

A studio source told The Sun: “This is a massive moment for Meghan and signifies a return to doing what she truly loves. She has been swamped with offers but this one felt right.”

“It is Meghan’s way of gently putting her toe back in the water and seeing how she enjoys being back on set,” the source said. “Everyone involved is super-excited, and have been sworn to secrecy about her involvement.”

Meghan Markle To Voice ‘Elephant’ Documentary For Disney+

Disney+ documentary Elephant is getting a royal voiceover after the streamer confirmed that Meghan Markle is to narrate the film.

The doc, produced by Disneynature, will launch on the digital platform on April 3.

This comes after her husband, Prince Harry, was overheard to have to lobbied former Disney CEO Bob Iger to help his wife get voiceover work. Disney noted that the film would be narrated by Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex, one of the last times that she will be able to use that title before she gives it up at the end of the month.

Directed by Mark Linfield, co-directed by Vanessa Berlowitz and Alastair Fothergill, and produced by Mark Linfield, Vanessa Berlowitz and Roy Conli, Elephant follows African elephant Shani and her son Jomo as their herd make a journey hundreds of miles across the vast Kalahari Desert. Led by their matriarch, Gaia, the family faces brutal heat, dwindling resources and persistent predators, as they follow in their ancestor’s footsteps on a quest to reach a lush, green paradise.
