February 07 – The Duke And Duchess Of Sussex Attend The Endeavour Fund Awards

Harry, Duke of Sussex and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex attended The Endeavour Fund Awards at Draper’s Hall in London, England. Meghan fist attended the awards last year while engaged to Harry. The awards recognize the significant achievement of nine members of the Armed Forces Community who were injured or fell ill in service, but have gone on to use sport and adventurous challenge as part of their recovery and rehabilitation. The Endeavour Fund, led by The Duke of Sussex and The Royal Foundation, provides financial backing and guidance to programmes and charities across the UK that support thousands of service personnel and veterans reach their full potential. There are three nominees for each award that have been chosen from a long list of applicants. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex chaired the judging panel which has decided the final winners, who were announced at the Endeavour Fund Awards ceremony.

Upon arrival Harry and Meghan attended the pre-ceremony reception where they met the nominees, as well as endeavour participants and key supporters of the Endeavour Fund. At the ceremony Meghan presented the award for Celebrating Excellence Award to Nathan Forster, before presenting the award Meghan said: “I’m so, so grateful to be back. Last year was my first time coming and it was such a meaningful night. Before the reception Harry and I were talking to all the nominees and in speaking to one of them he said, you know after I mentioned to him, ‘Gosh the impact you guys make is huge. It’s so much bigger than you.’ No it’s not about us, it’s the ripple effect. And, in true modesty of all the nominees; yes it is about the ripple effect. What I admired in him – and I feel is true about all the nominees – is you don’t have that ripple effect unless each of you is brave enough to make that first wave. It’s so important to remember that because what you’re doing is inspiring so many people – so thank you from all of us for being that inspiration.”

February 01 – The Duke and Duchess Visit Bristol

The Duke and Duchess battled a snowy weather conditions for a day of engagements in Bristol. Arriving a few minutes late by train, Their Royal Highnesses jumped right into their walkabout greeting well-wishers who had lined the streets to see them before heading to their first stop, Bristol Old Vic, the oldest continuously working theatre in the English speaking world. Once inside the couple toured the recently renovated theater, chatted with students taking part in workshops and enjoyed a performance from the Young Company from their production ‘Hercules’.

The Duke and Duchess then made a surprise visit to the One 25 Charity to see how they are helping women to break free from street sex-work, addiction and other life-controlling issues. They met with volunteers who help run the outreach programme and Meghan helped pack lunches and warm clothing which will be distributed to women working on the streets. A key moment from this event came when Meghan decided to write positive messages on banana skins.

Lastly, The Duke and Duchess visited Empire Fighting Chance, a charity that supports children who are failing at school and in danger of drifting into a life of unemployment or even crime, and helps them turn their lives around. Harry and Meghan chatted with young girls taking part in the program, while Harry had a key moment himself, clearing the room to talk for ten minutes with a boy whose father had passed away.

January 31 – The Duchess of Sussex Visits The ACU

Today, (January 31, 2018) The Duchess of Sussex in her new role as Patron of the Association of Commonwealth Universities made a visit to City, University of London to meet with students from the Commonwealth now studying in the UK. The ACU is the world’s first and oldest international university network, with more than 500 member institutions in over 50 countries. Her Majesty The Queen passed on the patronage to The Duchess of Sussex earlier this year after having held the role for the past 33 years. During her visit Meghan met with scholars and students alike hearing their stories and learning about the work done by the ACU. After her visit Meghan took a few moments to greet the crowd of students who had been waiting anxiously for her in the cold. At one point the crowd started chanting her name.

January 30 – Visiting The National Theatre

Today, (January 30, 2019) The Duchess of Sussex made her first visit to the National Theatre as Patron. Her Majesty The Queen passed on the Patronage to Meghan having held the role for the past 45 years, earlier this year. During this visit Meghan took the opportunity to learn about the National Theatre’s work with arts and community organisations across the UK. As well as meet with current and former Nation Theatre apprentices. She also enjoyed a performance inspired by War Horse by schoolchildren from Edith Neville Primary School in Camden, which was created to mark the centenary of Armistice Day and watched a line run from Shakespeare’s Pericles — the NT’s first Public Arts production of Pericles was performed by a company of over 200 people of all ages recruited through the National Theatre’s partners.

January 16 – The Duke And Duchess Of Sussex Attend The Premiere of Cirque du Soleil’s Totem

This evening, (January 16, 2019) The Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended the premiere of Cirque du Soleil’s Totem in support of Sentebale, at the Royal Albert Hall. The evening helped raise awareness and funds for Prince Harry’s charity Sentebale, which works with children and young people affected by HIV. Prince Harry co-founded Sentebale in 2006 with Prince Seeiso of Lesotho. Before and after the performance The Duke and Duchess met with performers and representatives from Sentebale and Cirque du Soleil. This evening’s show was the second event in a series of ‘Sentebale Nights’ which is continuing to build on the success of the charity’s first production and partnership with the hit musical ‘Hamilton’ which was also attended by The Duke and Duchess back in August of last year.

January 16 – The Duchess of Sussex Visits The Mayhew

In her first engagement of the day and her first visit as Patron, The Duchess of Sussex visited Mayhew. The Mayhew is an animal welfare charity working to improve the lives of dogs, cats and people in communities both in London and internationally. Meghan met with volunteers and residents who have used some of the Mayhew’s services including The TheraPaws Program which uses volunteers and their therapy dogs to go into care and residential homes, hospitals, hospices and day centres across London to engage with residents, provide companionship and brighten up their day and the Mayhew’s Pet Refuge, which provides shelter and care for the pets of people in crisis for short periods of time, like being hospitalised. The Duchess chatted with Afghanistan Country Director, Dr Mo, to learn more about the Mayhew’s work abroad and Head Vet Nurse, Gillian Rich RVN, who spoke about the veterinary work they do on-site at the Community Vet Clinic. Ever the animal lover Meghan was smitten with several of the dogs who either have been adopted from the shelter or looking for their forever homes. We’re sure they won’t be looking for long now!

January 14 – The Duke And Duchess of Sussex Visit Birkenhead

Today, (January 14, 2018) The Duke and Duchess of Sussex traveled to Birkenhead for a day of engagements. The royal couple started off their day at Hamilton Square where they viewed a new sculpture erected in November to mark the 100th anniversary of Wilfred Owen’s death. The statue, named after one of the war poet’s poems ‘Futility’, is cast in bronze and represents an exhausted WW1 soldier. Harry and Meghan met local veterans and members of the Birkenhead Institute Old Boys, of which Wilfred Owen belonged to, and which played a part in the creation of the tribute. The couple then greeted the large crowds of waiting admirers. During the walkabout Meghan revealed that she is six months pregnant, but revealed later that she and Harry don’t know if the baby is a boy or girl.

In the couple’s second unannounced engagement they officially opened Number 7, a ‘Feeding Birkenhead’ citizens supermarket and community cafe, at Princess Pavements, Pyramids Shopping Centre,the new store enables local families to buy their weekly shopping at a discounted price, and provides advice and advocacy on benefits, looking for work, debt, budgeting, and cooking. They also revealed plans to launch a “baby basics” program which will provide baby clothes and toiletries to new moms. The couple toured the new supermarket and enjoyed coffee and tea with the locals.

The Duke and Duchess then visited Tomorrows Women, an organization that supports women in vulnerable circumstances. They offer an extensive range of training courses and workshops for more than 6000 women as well as support groups focusing on mental health issues, domestic abuse, and addiction. Harry and Meghan met women taking part in a knitting and flower arranging sessions.

Their last stop of the day was at The Hive, a safe environment for young people to enjoy themselves, building key skills and raising their aspirations and confidence. Harry and Meghan enjoyed a performance upon their arrival by the Junior Dance Troupe and took part in a number of activities and workshops throughout the centre.

Today (December 25, 2018) The Duke and Duchess of Sussex joined Prince William and Kate Middleton for the royal family’s annual walk to church services in the English countryside on Tuesday morning. And just like last year, Meghan, 37, and Harry, 34, walked to the Church of St. Mary Magdalene alongside William and Kate.

December 18 – The Duchess Of Sussex Visits Brinsworth House

Today, (December 18, 2018) The Duchess of Sussex visited Brinsworth House, a residential and nursing retirement home for theatre and entertainment professionals in Staines Road, Twickenham, west London, England. The Duchess expressed the desire to visit the home after seeing footage of it at the end of this years’s Royal Variety Performance which she attended back in November with Prince Harry. Emily Nash reported that Meghan revealed she use to visit something similar when she lived in L.A. During her visit The Duchess received a tour of the facilities and met with staff before joining residents in a few Christmas themed activities including an arts and crafts session with which she added her own contribution to their Christmas artwork and viewed a musical performance. Before her departure Meghan signed the guest book and unveiled a plaque marking her visit.

December 10 – The Duchess Of Sussex Attends The Fashion Awards

Last night, (December 10, 2018) The Duchess of Sussex made a surprise appearance to The Fashion Awards where she presented the British Designer of the Year – Womenswear to Clare Waight Keller who designed her wedding dress and other already memorable pieces for Meghan this year. The award recognised Clare Waight Keller’s formidable contribution as a British fashion designer to the industry, and was decided by a panel of over 2,000 international industry experts.

December 05 – Visiting The Association of Commonwealth Universities

Today, (December 05, 2018) The Duchess of Sussex had an unannounced engagement where she visited The Association of Commonwealth Universities. The ACU posted:

University leaders, academics, and international scholarship students came together at an ACU event on Wednesday 5 December to explore how higher education can help build a better world.

Hosted by King’s College London, the event was an opportunity to discuss the role of universities in addressing human trafficking and modern slavery, gender equality and inclusion, peace and reconciliation, and climate change and resilience.

HRH The Duchess of Sussex attended the event and took part in discussions, following her first official speech to students at the University of the South Pacific in Fiji in October 2018.

This fits perfectly with the reports that Meghan’s public work and patronages will be aimed toward helping women in developing countries by using higher education.

December 04 – The Henry van Straubenzee Memorial Funds Christmas Carol Service

Last night, (December 04, 2018 The Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended The Henry van Straubenzee Memorial Funds Christmas Carol Service at St Luke’s Church, London, UK. The event supports The Henry van Straubenzee Memorial Fund which aims to fight poverty in Uganda through education by investing in buildings and providing hygienic and educational resources. They form partnerships with schools to ensure that even the poorest children have access to high quality education. You can read more about this charity here. Prince William and Prince Harry have been Patrons of this charity since 2009. The Henry van Straubenzee Memorial Fund was set up in memory of childhood friend of the Princes’ who died in 2002. At this year’s event Harry and Meghan both participated, with Meghan reportedly reading a poem and Harry giving an appeal on behalf of the charity. This is usually a pretty private event, but photos of The Duke and Duchess exiting out of a side door have been added to the gallery.

Photos: November 21 – Visiting The Hubb Community Kitchen

This morning, (November 21, 2018) Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex made a previously unannounced visit to The Hubb Community Kitchen. Meghan has been visiting the kitchen privately since January 2018. The Duchess’s visit to the kitchen today was to see how the proceeds of their cookbook Together has been helping the kitchen and local residents. Since the September release of the book it has raised 210,000 in the UK alone. With the help of those funds the women of The Hubb were able to renovate the kitchen and are able to prepare fresh meals seven days a week. During Meghan’s visit today, she toured the newly renovated kitchen and helped prepare the meals that would be sent out today before sitting down with the women to hear about their latest accomplishments and future goals.

Photos: November 19 – The Duke And Duchess Attend The Royal Variety Performance

Tonight, (November 19, 2019) The Duke and Duchess attended The Royal Variety Performance at The London Palladium in London, United Kingdom. The Royal Variety Performance is a televised variety show held annually to raise money for the Royal Variety Charity, of which Queen Elizabeth is life-patron. It is attended by senior members of the British Royal Family. This is Meghan’s first year attending the event. This year’s show was hosted by Greg Davies and included performances from Take That, George Ezra, Clean Bandit, the cast of Tina, The Tina Turner Musical and Andrea and Matteo Bocelli. The cast of Hamilton also performed for the event just three months after Harry and Meghan attended a gala performance of the West End musical with show creator Lin-Manuel Miranda.
