Suits Recap: ‘Pulling The Goalie’

Okay, now it’s starting to feel like Patrick J. Adams’ time on the show is coming to an end. With two more episodes left this season, “Pulling the Goalies” sees Harvey and Mike team-up to help Judge Ralls, the judge who presided over Mike’s fraud case. Seeing Harvey and Mike kicking it like the good ol’ days has been a rare occurrence in the past few seasons, so it was nice that we got one more Batman and Robin takedown before Adams leaves the show. Obviously, this case wasn’t without its bumps.

Judge Ralls approaches Mike to represent her in the lawsuit, claiming she overturned a verdict for personal gain. She swears she didn’t do it, and guilt trips Mike into taking the case since she treated him fairly during his trial. She even quotes his closing statement back at him. So obviously Mike feels compelled to take it. However, taking her on as a client means the firm would have to drop any client that has a case in her court. This is the last thing Harvey wants to do, but Mike asks him to work on it with him because he wants them to have fun together and thinks Harvey might need a distraction from his break-up.

So, the two get to work on the case, which proves to be trickier than they expected. But that’s not really important here. What’s important is the meal the two share while working where Harvey tells Mike about Donna kissing him, and Mike admits that he told Donna to tell Harvey how she felt before it was too late. Harvey realizes Mike couldn’t have known she’d kiss him. So for the moment they’re cool, but once the case heats up, everything changes.

Eventually, the opposing counsel suing Ralls tells Mike and Harvey that she’s coming after her. Harvey’s one rule is that clients don’t lie to him, so he’s totally prepared to drop her because that means he won’t have to give up a big client he’s trying to sign. Mike, being Mike, doesn’t want to do that and unfairly accuses Harvey of never sacrificing, which causes a fight. Harvey points out that he has sacrificed everything, and then Mike throws the whole “I went to prison for you” thing in his face.

Donna overhears the entire argument and decides now’s not the right time to tell Harvey that she put their office lease in jeopardy. While Mike and Harvey were doing the Batman and Robin thing, the firm’s flirtatious landlord David Fox approaches Donna and tricks her into admitting that the firm restructured, which violates the lease and allows him to evict the firm in 90 days. Donna asks Rachel to help come up with a countersuit to save the firm, which ends up putting it in even more jeopardy because David never actually filed his suit and Donna’s suit violates the terms of the lease, which states that tenants can’t sue the landlord without first going to arbitration. So now, the firm has 30 days to move out. (Next: Donna and Rachel pull a Burlesque)

Photos: April 18 – Commonwealth Heads Of Government Meeting

Yesterday, (April 18, 2018) Prince Harry and Meghan Markle attended a reception for delegates from the Commonwealth Youth Forum at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre in London. Earlier in the week The Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, appointed Prince Harry as a Commonwealth Youth Ambassador. In his new role Prince Harry will highlight and support the work and aspirations of young people across the Commonwealth, on both UK engagements and overseas tours to Commonwealth countries. He will also work to create links between young people and youth leaders, and will encourage them to use Commonwealth platforms to address the social, economic, and environmental challenges of their generation. In a speech after his appointment, Prince Harry mentioned how he was “incredibly grateful” that the woman he was about to marry would be joining him in his new job.

Meghan’s participation at these events in the next few days has been hailed as unusual as these important meetings are usually attended by senior royal family members and Harry and Meghan are still a month away from the wedding.

Real life to royal: How Meghan Markle’s life is changing

Meghan Markle’s road from California schoolgirl to actress to future bride to the fifth-in-line to the British throne is a real-life fairytale.

Markle, 36, will become part of the British royal family when she weds Prince Harry, 33, at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle on May 19.

While the life of a royal is undeniably glamorous from the outside, Markle will be expected to embrace the official duties that come along with joining the royal family, a role she may not have imagined herself in even just a few years ago.

Take a look at the ways Markle’s life has changed, and how she is learning the ways of royalty. Continue reading Real life to royal: How Meghan Markle’s life is changing

‘Team Meghan’ helps Markle prepare for life as a princess

As a team of professionals at Kensington Palace oversees the metamorphosis of Meghan Markle from American actor to British princess, they may have squandered one useful gift: her dowry.

“As I understand it, there have been an extra 1m hits on the royal Kensington Palace website as a result of Meghan,” said Andrew Morton, the biographer of Diana, Princess of Wales; of Wallis Simpson – the last US divorcee to marry into the family; and now of Markle.

Once her romance with Prince Harry was confirmed, the former star of legal drama Suits shut down The Tig, her lifestyle website, and bid farewell to 1.9 million Instagram followers. “Talk about frittering away a constituency,” said Morton, whose book Meghan: The Hollywood Princess is published this week. “In the old days, a bride brought a dowry. She brought 1.9 million Instagram followers, all of whom have been cast aside.”

Palace aides might look at another American princess, Sarah Butler, who, like Markle, studied international relations and married into royalty. Now HRH Princess Sarah Zeid of Jordan, she advocates on mother and child rights, harnessing her social media power to disseminate her message, Morton said. Meghan Markle Takes on a New, and Highly Unusual, Royal Duty

Meghan Markle has a busy week coming up. The future royal will attend two engagements during the upcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting, which convenes every two years and this year takes place in London. Given that she is not yet a fully fledged member of the family, it is highly unusual for Markle to be involved in such a high-profile event (the meeting is a summit of the Commonwealth’s 53 leaders). It’s a strong hint at what Markle might do once she is a member of the royal family.

Meghan will attend the Commonwealth Youth Forum in London on Wednesday, with Prince Harry, as well as a Women’s Empowerment reception on Thursday which involves charities and organizations working to promote gender equality through girls’ education, a cause Markle is passionate about. Her presence at C.H.O.G.M. is being seen in royal circles as very significant, and yet another indication of how warmly she has been welcomed into the royal fold ahead of her wedding. “Clearly the feeling is that she is equipped and ready for the job even before the ring is on her finger,” a former courtier told Vanity Fair. “This is quite unusual. C.H.O.G.M. is a very important official meeting. It’s quite something for Meghan to be involved.”

The news that Markle will attend her very first C.H.O.G.M. follows Kensington Palace’s announcement earlier today that Prince Harry has been made president of the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust. The new youth charity, of which Her Majesty is Patron, provides a platform for young changemakers across the Commonwealth in the areas of education, sport, health, and the environment. Suits recap: Inevitable

All good things must come to an end. The relationships you expected to end ended in tonight’s Suits. Sure, it wasn’t surprising, but it was still rather entertaining to watch exactly how these things fell apart.

At the top of the hour, it seems like Harvey and Paula are out of the woods. As they’re enjoying coffee together in the morning, Harvey says he wants to take her out for a nice, intimate dinner. Paula says yes. But what’s supposed to be a romantic dinner for two turns into an awkward evening meal for three people because Harvey’s mom comes down to the city for the night and asks to see him. Not wanting to disappoint either woman, Harvey decides to invite his mother to dinner.

The Harvey-Paula-Lily dinner starts out well. There’s laughing, stories are shared. No awkwardness in sight! But then Lily accidentally ruins it. As she’s about to leave, she thanks Paula for being the reason she and Harvey reconnected since Harvey told her that someone important in his life pushed him to do it. But, in case you forgot, that wasn’t Paula. That was Donna. Paula’s face drops, and the meal ends on a very awkward note.

And thus we arrive at the first ruined relationship in the episode. Paula realizes that she really can’t handle Donna being such an integral part of Harvey’s life because her ex cheated on her with someone he worked with and now she’s worried it’ll happen again — even though she knows she shouldn’t let the past affect this new relationship. So, she does what we all hoped she wouldn’t and gives Harvey an ultimatum: their relationship or Donna. It’s a moment I’ve been dreading because this is such a worn out cliché, but Christina Cole makes it work because you believe that Paula realizes how messed up this is and yet knows it’s the only thing that will ease her mind.
